Crafty Chica Get Motivated! Workshop
I was thrilled to find this summer workshop by artist and author, Kathy Cano-Murillo, The Crafty Chica. She shares exclusive lesson plans on business, crafts and writing.
One of the best parts of this class is the price. I haven't been working as much so the $23.00 really caught my eye.
I have been following Kathy for I while and I love her vibrant style. The class encourages students shake up life and apply her creative tips to find new ways to jump the hurtles standing in the way of your completing daily chores, exploring new directions and working on your passion.

The first video lesson talked about shaking up the snowglobe of your life. I decided, since I am very visual, I will do a journal page for each tip that helps me to illustrate what I want to accomplish. Here is the page I started with and the photoshopped version where I added glitter!

Tiddliwinks Raspberry Garden: Inspiration for Hand Painting in Nursery
This nursery decor was so easy using the Target Tiddiwinks bedding set.
It was effortless to create freehand designs using Plaid Folk Art Enamel Paint
and Mod Podge. The clock, a nursing essential, is a wooden plate with a
simple clock works from the craft store. The dresser is from the thrift store, then
spray painted white. Each draw is painted with a different design to coordinate
with the theme.

| The pink background is regular Folk Art Paint and Mod Podge was used as a top coat after all the designs were applied. |

Sock Doll Obsession
My latest obsession, Sock Dolls . . . started when I was looking for a soft doll
for my daughter. She was pregnant and expecting a sweet girl! I wanted to get her
1st doll for the nursery. I looked into Waldorf dolls and other stuffies.
The dolls in the store had faces that I didn't like, ... with the words "my 1st Doll"
printed on their clothes. I like the simple German soft dolls on the
internet the best, but they were pricey. Once I discovered sock dolls on Etsy,
I knew I would have to make it myself! Here is one of my creations using a
lone ranger from my son's childhood soccer days!
Instead of stitching the face ... I painted it!
Hope you like!

Name Tag Idea Comes to Life
I have had this idea in my head for a while, I finally got it out! I wore that crazy shingle name tag during my kid's Marching Band years! I got more attention at away events that it really got me thinking. So I started collecting all these items that could be the base badge part. The "Joann" and the "Shirley" are both made on some old grocery store name tags, but in the future I will show what else I can concoct! Click on the pic and see all the details enlarged!

Recycled Bag in a Girl Scout Theme
I was helping a friend put together a Halloween Costume at a thrift store when I spotted this cool purse! It was only $2.00! (It's great since I am having a handbag fetish lately!) I was inspired when my friend told me that Girl Scout Cookies are being sold early this year, so I couldn't resist turning this Babe Bag into something Theme-riffic! The outer portion of the bag is printed cloth, so just gave it a shot of Fabreeze and then looked for images on Google. I was able to print out some vintage pics, logos, cookie copies and box illustrations for the collage. I glued them on the the bag with my favorite Royal Coat Decoupage Glue. I also painted GS berets on the girl's heads. The rhinestones were already on the front of the bag! Then, I just had to have a cookie! Samoas are my preferred weakness! Doesn't it look good? I impressed myself! Not bad for a bar coaster, broken up toothpicks, paint and hot glue! Click on the pic and see a larger view!

I got an email yesterday from a good friend in my neighborhood and I had to share it with you. I also thought you might like to see one of my illustrations in progress. I will post the finished one sometime in the future. Please check back!So--- here is my 2009 Contract to you:
After serious & cautious consideration . . Your contract of friendship has been renewed for the New Year 2009! It was a very hard decision to make. So try not to screw it up!!!(LOL)
My Wish for You in 2009. . . May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for $100 bills. May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips! May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires and may happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy. May the problems you have forget your home address! In simple words . . .
May 2009 be the best year of your life!!!
Thanks Chiquita!

Found a New Site

Polyvore is a unique, easy-to-use web-based application for mixing and matching products from any online store. Items are pulled together into a visual set of products that can be shared with anyone. Each product within the set is then linked back to the online store where it is available for purchase.
How Fun is that?

My Princess of Spring
Little Pink Studio... I hope that you don't mind, but I tryed making my own Princess Bird Nest. Her nest is sitting on a silk Christmas Rose Stem, that I had left over. Her circlet is a ring from old wedding favor extras that were in my box. The tiara center spike is a half of a snowflake sequin and that is embellished with some flat back rhinestones. I like my atempt, but it isn't as nice as ours. Thanks for the inspiration!Queen of Spring, CyndiLou

Love This Artist
If you haven't figured it out by now, Iam a pack rat. I get up everyday saying -today is the day I'm throwing things away, -but as the time ticks by. . .I find some art project that needs one of those stock-piled objects. I come from a long line of savers and it is hard to break those habits. Here is an artist that uses all those things that are packed in my grandmothers attic! Now here is a good reason to keep doing what I am doing! Thanks Rebecca Sower for being my inspiration today!
